South Lake Trail

2028 Lick Creek Raod
Lick Creek, Pike County

The South Lake Trail makes its trailhead at the Lick Creek Park Area. This 9 mile, dirt-road trail can be utilized for horseback riders, hikers, bicyclers, and any other non-motorized activity. The trail originated as the old road along the lake where houses stood before dam construction. The land is owned by the U. S. Corp of Engineer, but is leased by the county. Several different community groups take advantage of the trails lush foliage and abundant wildlife such as deer, turkey and grouse. The county sponsors a free trail ride in the spring and fall that provides a lunch at one of the 2 primitive campsites available on the trail. On average, 150-200 riders participate in each trail ride. Other features of the trail include: scattered benches, a few picnic tables, a waterfall, and beautiful views of Fish Trap Lake. For more information on events scheduled on the trail, please contact Rodney Holbrook (Corp of Engineers) at 437-7496. If you are interested in the South Lake Trail ride, contact Brenda Damron (Pike County Public Works) at 432-6290
